Stand-up Paddleboarding in Reno Tahoe

Stand-up paddleboarding, also known as SUP, is one of the fastest growing watersports and there is no better place to try it out than Reno Tahoe! This sport combines kayaking and surfing and gives you the opportunity to feel like you’re walking on water. We’re sure you’ve sat on the beach and watched someone paddleboard’ or have seen the breathtaking photos on Instagram. Well now is the time to get off the beach, hop on that paddleboard and explore beyond the shoreline. Here’s your all-inclusive guide to stand-up paddleboarding in Reno Tahoe.

Where to Rent or Buy

During the summertime, almost any of the major beaches will be renting paddleboards on site. This is great because you won’t have to worry about transporting the board to the lake. However, some of the best times to paddleboard are outside of the summer season, so we’ve included a list of lakeside places that rent (almost) year round. Perhaps you’re ready to take the plunge and want to buy a paddleboard? We’ve listed some of those places too.  Grab your board and find out why the country’s largest alpine lake is considered one of the most beautiful in the world!

Where to Paddleboard

Basically anywhere you can launch your board is a good place to start. The eastern shoreline of Lake Tahoe is a fan favorite – glide past rocks, coves, and secluded beaches. If you’re looking to paddle elsewhere besides Lake Tahoe you’re in luck. Take your board to the Paiute Reservation, Pyramid Lake, and cruise around the gorgeous desert oasis. Or make a day of it and paddle around the Sparks Marina. Stop for a cup of joe at Lighthouse Coffee, shop for more gear at Scheels, or check out the latest movie at the iMAX Theater located in the Outlets at Legends. Be sure to visit our beaches page and see some of the best spots to start your paddleboarding adventure!
