As the nation’s oldest paddle festival located in North Lake Tahoe, this family friendly event features distance and beginner races, a live concert from Mama’s Cookin’, sand castle building contests, and more than $10,000 in cash and prizes, as well as an attempt to set the world record for the most people doing yoga on a stand up paddleboard (SUP).
The 2013 Quiksilver Ta-Hoe Nalu Paddle Festival presented by Nature’s Bakery takes place at Kings Beach State Park in Kings Beach, Friday, August 9 – Sunday, August 11.
As the fastest growing water sport in the world, thousands are expected to attend the annual event – and have a chance to win an amazing event giveaway package that includes a semi-custom designed “Wet Woody” paddleboard ($2,200 Value) from Lakeshore Paddleboard Company, Quiksilver Waterman Collection Gear package ($600 Value), and a Nature’s Bakery snack/swag pack.
In addition to an amazing event giveaway, Nevada-based presenting sponsor, Nature’s Bakery, will be handing out delicious samples of their All-Natural, Kosher, Non-GMO, Cholesterol-free, Dairy-Free Fig Bars to participants and spectators during the event.
With help from local company Aviso, the renowned Lakeshore Paddleboard Company designed, built and donated the “Wet Woody,” a SUP named after the iconic Wet Woody, a famous drink at North Lake Tahoe restaurant, Gar Woods, which acts as a shine of sorts to the famed Gar Wood boat featuring a stunning wooden exterior and massive engine that powered speed boats across Lake Tahoe from the 1920s through the 1940s. The board is uniquely constructed with a hollow core, which makes it only 22 lbs. Gar Woods are now among the most coveted classic boats in the world and can still be seen along the shores of the Alpine Lake, inspiring the sleek, cutting design of Lakeshore’s SUP.
“Being locals to the Reno-Tahoe area, we have innovated and created specific designs for the flat-water lifestyle,” said Sean Adlao, president and CEO of Lakeshore Paddleboard Company. “We are very proud to support the local Ta-hoe Nalu event and help spread the enjoyment of the fastest growing water sport in the world.”
Attendees can visit Nature’s Bakery at the Quiksilver Ta-Hoe Nalu Paddle Festival for a chance to win the “Wet Woody,” enjoy some free fig bars and capture some memories at the Instagram photo booth. In addition, participants who take a photo with Nature’s Bakery products using the hashtag #paddlejourney, get a chance to win Nature’s Bakery gear.
