The Slice is Right - A Local's Guide to the Best Pizza in Reno

Who doesn’t love pizza? It’s a classic any time of the year and any day of the week. With so many places to choose from in Reno Tahoe, Abbey Kay helps you narrow it down to a few local favorites, a few with pizzazz and a few that do good in the community. Get ready to pick your slice!

Pizza Places with Pizzazz

Noble Pie Parlor

With two locations, one in the heart of downtown Reno and another in Midtown, Noble Pie Parlor has everything you want in a fresh pizza pie. They serve everything fresh and make it all in-house, including their ranch dressing! They also offer vegan and gluten-free options as well. Their Meats & Nuts pie is something you have to try!

Pizzava

Located in Midtown next to Rum Sugar Lime, a tropical-themed cocktail bar, you can’t miss Pizzava's yellow chair-filled location. They have all the classics, as well as some wild flavors. Their breakfast pizza proves that pizza is perfect for every meal of the day! And if you didn’t think a fried egg belonged on top of a pizza, I promise you’ll be sure that it does after tasting what they cook up.

Eclipse Pizza

This little pizza shop is tucked away behind a coffee shop in west Reno. Eclipse Pizza has a great outdoor patio and offers toppings with a twist. Try the Ironman or The Islander to see what I mean. They also make a cauliflower crust and offer gluten-free options!

A Special Place

Smiling with Hope Pizza

Not only does Smiling with Hope Pizza offer really amazing New York-style pizza, but they choose to hire adults with disabilities so that they can earn money while also learning life skills. How awesome is that? The owners have been making pizza for over 20 years and they definitely know what they are doing. Give their NY Ricotta a go and you won’t be disappointed.

Reno Classics

Pub n’ Sub

This pizza den is located next to the University of Nevada, Reno and has some of the best flavors this town has to offer. My parents used to go to Pub n' Sub on dates back when they went to UNR in the late 70’s. Play some pool, watch the game and get ready to enjoy your pie on a classic red and white checkered tablecloth. You’ll fall in love with this pizza, that I can almost guarantee.

J.J.’s Pie Co.

J.J.’s Pie Company has been serving pizza for 35 years here in Reno and is the shop that all generations have enjoyed. They’re friendly and they feel like a neighbor. Fresh ingredients make for great flavors, especially on their pies like The Baja and their J.J.’s Special.

Something Unique

Pizza Collective

Who wants something different? The Pizza Collective makes their own sourdough crust like no one else in town offers. They are a group of people who love pizza and are making pizza for all of us pizza lovers to enjoy. They have unique flavors like pear and Calabrian chili cream sauce (but not on the same pie of course!).

Wild Garlic

Pizza and beer, what more do you need? Wild Garlic has what’s known as the Super Slice option which is basically ¬º of an entire pizza in one serving. You can slice it so every person in your group can get the toppings they want! They also have this soft and doughy, yet perfectly cooked crust that is best dipped in honey.

Grimaldi’s Pizza

This is the perfect place for a pizza date night. With plenty of beers and wines to choose from, Grimaldi’s Pizza is the perfect place to savor a slice and imbibe before catching a movie. Their thin crust pizza is so full of flavor, you won’t even miss the thick dough that most pizzas consist of. Its location in Sparks at The Outlets at Legends right next to the Galaxy Movie Theaters means it's a great spot for date night or family pizza night.

Southcreek Pizza

Located in south Reno, Southcreek Pizza serves delicious gourmet pizzas baked in their wood-fired brick oven. From its tomato sauce to its artisan Neapolitan style dough, this place has its Naples-style pizza down to a science. Did we mention that their mozzarella is made in-house fresh daily? These wood-fired pizzas make Southcreek Pizza one of the best pizza places in Reno.

Make Your Own

Three cheers for not arguing over what toppings to put on your pizza. We now have pizza shops in the Reno Tahoe area that offer build-your-own individual style pies. So go at it and put whatever you want on top. This pizza is all yours and you don’t have to share at all. Check out Mod Pizza and Blaze Pizza for all of your build-your-own-pizza happiness needs.
