Upscale Dining in Lake Tahoe

Osteria Sierra

As a part of the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino, Osteria Sierra brings a modern, elevated touch to Lake Tahoe dining. Their menu celebrates ingredients sourced through the Tahoe Food Hub, featuring house-made pastas, steaks and seafood. It’s the ideal spot for a special occasion or just an excuse to treat yourself.

Gar Woods Grille & Pier

Arguably one of the most iconic Lake Tahoe restaurants, Gar Woods is a must-visit. Known for their lakefront dining experience (really, many patrons drive their boats right up to Gar Woods’ pier), this spot offers exceptional cuisine and a breathtaking lake view to match. Whether you’re dining for lunch or dinner, no Gar Woods experience is complete without a sip – or a pitcher – of their famous Wet Woody. For more libations and excellent food, visit their sister restaurant, Sparks Water Bar, at the Sparks Marina.

Smoke Door Lake Tahoe Saryo

Saryo means "a small tea house" in Japanese, used to describe a small boutique restaurant. Smoke Door Lake Tahoe Saryo is a gem of a restaurant located on the state line in Kings Beach. The wood fire cooking technique brings out the purest flavors of the ingredients, which are sourced both locally and from different regions of Japan. Reservations are highly recommended, but walk-ins are welcome at the bar after 5:30. They serve a 5-course lunch menu, as well as your choice of a tasting menu and a complete 10-course harvest menu.

Bite Tahoe

Don’t want to commit to one dish? We hear you! Bite is serving up American-style small plates, perfect for sampling and sharing with your adventure crew. And they really seem to have it all: from shrimp and andouille sausage gumbo to baby back ribs and house-made crab ravioli, you’ll have a hard time not ordering the entire menu! For the thirsty patrons, Bite has an extensive craft cocktail menu and wine list to wash it all down.

Big Water Grille

Nestled up in the mountains, Big Water Grille is serving incredible lake views and the ultimate fine-dining experience. Their focus is inventive California cuisine with global influences, creating a unique and well-rounded menu. Open for dinner, diners will enjoy high-quality dishes like filet mignon and Alaskan halibut, plus a delectable dessert menu for those with an extra sweet tooth.

Après All Day

Alibi Incline Public House

If there’s one thing Lake Tahoe restaurants know, it’s apres-everything. Alibi Ale Works is no stranger to the pre- and post-adventure brew, and their Incline Public House is where you can find 18 frequently-rotating house-brewed beers, as well as cider, wine and draft cocktails. They also have a food menu of traditional pub fare and pizzas to snack on alongside your brews.

The Blind Fox

For those who enjoy an upscale drinking experience, the Blind Fox is a luxurious cocktail bar with a 1920s vibe, exuding glamour and sophistication. This Lake Tahoe bar is the ideal spot to grab a drink before dinner or end with a nightcap. It’s important to note that the Blind Fox asks guests to respect a cocktail dress code with rules like no flip-flops or shorts and asks guests to follow a digital detox (no cellphones allowed!) to elevate the experience even further.

Ohana Diner at Bowl Incline

Hawaiian flavors in a bowling alley? We know, it sounds crazy. But Sam Choy’s Ohana Diner is serving up diner classics with a Hawaiian twist, and the results are mouthwatering. Bowl Incline itself is the perfect destination to keep the fun going after a day in the sun or snow, and visitors can chow down on Sam Choy’s delectable menu with dishes like his Korean fried chicken sandwich, poke bowls and Spam musubi.

Bear Belly Brewing Company

Located in Kings Beach, Bear Belly Brewing Company is a local’s go-to for a solid selection of local beers. Order a flight of tasters to try five beers at once, or sip on what you know best. Pro tip: head to Bear Belly when the weather’s nice and enjoy a cold one (or two!) in their beer garden.
