Dining Around the University of Nevada, Reno

Whether you’re visiting someone at the University of Nevada, Reno, considering becoming part of the Wolf Pack or just like the cool, youthful vibe that comes with university districts, there’s no shortage of good eats. Here are some local businesses ready to serve up something delicious for small and large groups alike.

Gourmelt
101 University Terrace

Originally a popular food truck in Reno, Gourmelt has gained hundreds of fans in the area thanks to the heavenly grilled cheese sandwiches they offer. They recently opened up a permanent building on University Terrace because people could not get enough. Go classic or spice it up with The Pepper Popper (cheddar cheese, cream cheese and fresh jalapeños) or The Wise Guy (fontina cheese, Salami and artichoke hearts) just to name a couple. They even have dessert-style sandwiches like The Bumble Brie (sliced green apples, ham, honey and melted brie on Cinnamon-apple-bread). Comfort food at its finest…

Pub N Sub
1000 Ralston Street

This pizza joint is slightly hidden, but universally loved. It’s a great place to grab a beer and catch up with friends. Locals frequent Pub N Sub, not only because they love the spot, but because they never get bored of the menu! Along with a variety of pizza pies, they have over 20 different burger and sandwich creations, salad mixtures and your favorite pub snacks. Sit inside and watch a game or enjoy their backyard beer garden during those warmer days.

The Mill Juice Shop
935 N. Virginia Street

This little juice shop opened earlier this year and it’s a great, healthy option for those wanting to eat clean and have few choices when eating out. They offer organic juices, shakes and food as well as a detox plan for more serious juicers. Each juice bottle targets a specific need for your body, whether it be to boost immunity or serve as an anti-inflammatory. In an effort to provide customers with even more ways to live a healthy lifestyle, they offer free yoga classes throughout the year.

Little Waldorf Saloon
1661 N. Virginia Street

Referred to by locals as “The Wal,” this is definitely a college hotspot. Not only is it walking distance from the university, it provides an atmosphere that makes you want to mingle and have fun. They have a full menu of bar food favorites like chicken wings, burgers and some tasty BBQ plates. When you’re done chowing down, check out an arcade game, play some pool, hit the dance floor or try your hand at Monday night trivia.

Archie’s
2195 N. Virginia Street

Another long-standing Reno favorite is Archie’s Giant Hamburgers & Breakfast. As the name says, they cover all meals of the day and ensure that you never walk away with an ounce of appetite left! Their burgers really are gigantic and the breakfast burritos are comparable. It’s not just the food that drives in customers, though. They have quite a bit of space and can satisfy whatever dining choice you prefer. Their ground level area has a local diner feel while the upstairs caters more to sports fans. They also have an upstairs deck to enjoy those beautiful sunny days.
