Bloody Mary BJs BBQ Sparks

The Spice of Life – A Local’s Guide to the Tastiest Bloody Marys in Town

We know weekends are for catching up with friends, and what better way than sipping a spicy, savory bloody mary over brunch. There is no shortage of great breakfast cocktails in Reno – after all, this is the land of no last call – so Abbey Kay put together a list of some local favorites. Whether you like your bloody mary on the traditional side or prefer something with a creative twist (pizza or jalapeño tequila, perhaps?), you’ll want to start hunting for your favorite bloody in town.

Chapel

This place makes bloody marys like you’ve never seen before. Chapel serves up their piled-high bloody marys every weekend, starting at 10 a.m. In hopes of helping to cure your night-before decisions, their version is known as the Wakey Wakey and is always unique and different. Sometimes stacked with pickled vegetables, and sometimes adorned with grilled cheese or even pizza. A bloody mary at Chapel is always different and always good!

PJ & Company

Found in a little corner just on the outskirts of Midtown is PJ & Co. Restaurant Saloon. Their bloody marys are on the bittersweet side and they leave the spice to their food. Pair your bloody mary with a Monte Cristo sandwich for a late breakfast or early lunch. Their Fresa French Toast is another must-try while you’re visiting.

The Stone House Cafe

Brunch at the Stone House Cafe is always a treat. Their BLTA Bloody Mary, which consists of house-infused bacon vodka and house-made bloody mary mix, will sit perfectly alongside literally anything you order off the breakfast menu. Feeling daring? Try one of their other four versions of a bloody mary – Bloody Maria made with jalapeño tequila, Sriracha Mary with chili pepper vodka, Bloody Bull made with citron vodka or Stone Wall Mary which is drizzled with Japanese wasabi.

Mellow Fellow Gastropub

Located across from Greater Nevada Field in the heart of downtown Reno, Mellow Fellow Gastropub is the place to grab a bloody mary before a Reno Aces game, or any other weekend during the off-season. They offer trivia on Sunday mornings to help get your mental juices flowing. Pair a bloody mary with their Crispy Chicken Sliders and you’ll be feeling good in no time!

Our Bar

Within walking distance of the Truckee River, Our Bar serves up a Tahoe Blue Bloody Mary that is made using local Tahoe Blue Vodka for only $5. Their omelets are the perfect best friend to a bloody mary since they’re garnished with avocado and a side of crispy sweet potato hash. Who could pass up on that combo?

BJ’s Nevada BBQ Co.

Just off the freeway in Sparks, BJ’s Nevada BBQ Co. offers two different takes on the classic bloody mary classic – either with bacon or without. Known for having a spicy kick which the locals love, it pairs well with the restaurant’s famous Kick Ass Fries that are loaded and full of everything you need for an early morning or late afternoon wake up call.
