Be a part of Lake Tahoe's classic history!
The 39th annual showing of the renown Lake Tahoe Concours d'Elegance Wooden Boat Show is a celebration of classic wooden boats. The event features social gatherings and competitions and is presented by the Tahoe Yacht Club Foundation at the Sierra Boat Company in Carnelian Bay, CA.
The Lake Tahoe Concours has become one of the most prestigious wooden boat shows in North America, drawing 80-110 antique and classic boat entries and 5,000 spectators. The meticulously restored entries include historic lakers and launches, some dating back to 1915; pre and post-WWII racers and runabouts; utility boats to flashy Rivas which are divided into 14 classes for judging to "as delivered from the factory" standards.
The featured Marque Class for 2011 will be a very rare but popular one: 'Gar Wood - the Gentleman's Runabout.' First produced in 1922, these powerful and luxurious mahogany craft were built by inventor, industrialist, and record-setting speedboat racer Garfield A. Wood. They ranged in size from 22 to 33 feet, and were described as the "aristocrat of motorboats."
