Hot August Nights is a week dedicated to celebrating classic cars and music. But it is so much more than a celebration of classic cars and rock ‘n’ roll! Originally created as a way to draw tourism to Reno, 32 years later and Hot August Nights is one of Reno’s most beloved events. Each year the event draws loyal fans who have been participating from the beginning, and it continues to grow in order to attract new fans, young and old. People of all ages will be able to revel in the events of the week. From car auctions, cruises, and concerts to craft fairs, drag racing and donut eating contests – there is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy!
On August 3-4, historic Virginia City will be hosting the kickoff of Hot August Nights. Cars will be on display along the streets of Virginia City from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. At 4 p.m. a full hour of cruising begins! After the cruising is over and the engines stop roaring, grab a bite to eat at one of Virginia City’s favorite spots before heading down the scenic highway to Reno.
Following the Virginia City Kickoff, from August 7-12, are six days filled with events. The entertainment schedule includes free, live entertainment at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno and Victorian Square in downtown Sparks. Cruises will be taking place in Downtown Sparks and Downtown Reno. Among the other events are a Jelly Donut Eating Contest at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, craft fairs, freestyle hula hoop, show-n-shine competition and drag racing. Check out a full list of events for each day of this citywide event.
Vintage Trailer Revival returns to Hot August Nights, August 7-12. Located at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park, just one mile north of downtown Reno, the newest addition to Hot August Nights includes four-wheeled accommodations! Spectators can enjoy another layer of nostalgia by viewing the exterior and interior of beautiful vintage trailers, 1976 and older. There’s some incredible “rolling living spaces” to appreciate, many of which will participate in a Show-n-Shine judged by industry experts. Free to the public.
Presented for the second year by Motorsport Auction Group (MAG), the collector car auction is one of the most anticipated events for classic car enthusiasts. Hosted at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center, the auction features nearly any car imaginable. The auction will also feature vendors and exhibitions! Don’t miss out on seeing what will be displayed this year on August 9-11.
