Prior to the inaugural season in 2017, the Reno Soccer Club created a contest to name the future team. Narrowed down from more than 3,000 fan submissions, the name “Reno 1868” was chosen as an ode to the year Reno was founded. Additionally, Football Club (FC) was added to the name in an effort to support the globalization and growth of the sport, commonly referred to as Football around the world.
The Reno soccer club calls Greater Nevada Field their home. Located in Downtown Reno, this venue also serves as the ballpark for the Reno Aces Triple-A baseball team. Throughout the year, there is always guaranteed to be something fun to do at Greater Nevada Field. Greater Nevada Field is located on the north bank of the Truckee River and is also home to the Freight House District.
The Reno 1868 season runs from March to October, but you can also watch some pre-season games in late-February.
