Fireworks and Events in Reno and Sparks
The most important question everyone always asks is, "Where can I see the fireworks?" This year, we have a collection of star-studded fireworks displays and fun-filled events perfect for the summer holiday.
Experience Reno’s debut of Red, White, and Flight. Kicking off at 6 p.m. on the University of Nevada campus, explore an aviation expo featuring booths from organizations across the community. Stop and listen to the Reno Phil Orchestra as they perform live, blending patriotic tradition with Broadway favorites and more. As night falls, see the skies light up with hundreds of synchronized drones, inspiring curiosity about aviation and aerospace.
Another fresh start, after an 18-year hiatus, is the City of Reno’s 4th on Fourth parade, which is expected to travel along Fourth Street to Vine Street and finish up on University Way. Beginning at 10 a.m. and featuring marching bands, floats, and other community groups, the city will follow the theme of America 250: Honoring 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Grand Sierra Resort is playing its role in the holiday weekend with its annual Grand Fireworks Display on July 4. Take a dip at the Grand Sierra Resort's pool and enjoy classic barbecue-style food and beverage options. The night ends with a fireworks display over the Grand Bay.
Star Spangled Sparks is a favorite event among locals and visitors alike in downtown Sparks. This annual 4th of July event is hosted by the Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks. Stroll Victorian Ave and enjoy the various food and beverage vendors and arts-and-crafts booths lining the street. Then settle into your viewing area for the area's largest fireworks display launched from the Nugget's rooftops.
In the heart of downtown and adding more color to an already neon skyline is the state-of-the-art rooftop fireworks show, along with a $200,000 Boots and Bubbles Giveaway hosted by the Silver Legacy, Eldorado, and Circus Circus Reno. At 9:30 p.m., make sure to snag a spot on Virginia Street for front row seats to all the festivities.
Celebrating 4th of July in Lake Tahoe
Several locations around Lake Tahoe will have 4th of July celebrations taking place as well. The 78th annual Tahoe City Fireworks Show returns to Commons Beach. Catch the display from the shoreline in Tahoe City along the Lakeside Trail, William B. Layton State Park, and Tahoe State Recreation Area.
Visit South Lake Tahoe to watch Lights on the Lake, which has been named one of the top five fireworks shows in the nation. The show will begin at 9:45 p.m. on July 4 and will be visible from all over South Lake.
4th of July Events in Virginia City
Make an entire day of it - explore the historic town of Virginia City and stay for the fireworks show. The V&T Railroad will be running its steam trains all day, St. Mary's Art Center is offering an intimate Fourth of July Spectacular with live music and art galleries, and s'mores and refreshments will be prepared at Mackay Mansion.
