Enjoy Fun Family Summer Activities All Summer Long

Summer is in full swing, so what is there for the little ones to do to stay cool on a long, hot day? When it's summertime in Reno, there's fun to be had for the whole family!

Wild Island Family Adventure Park

Whatever your family is in the mood for, Wild Island Family Adventure Park - located in Sparks, across from the Outlets at Legends - has something perfect for a fun Reno summer day. Bowling, mini-golf and glow-in-the-dark go-karting offer endless thrills, while Wild Islands’ indoor arcades and play area are a great way to enjoy family summer activities out of the sun. Need to cool off? Wild Island Waterpark is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day and provides splashy fun for kids of all ages. Beginning Summer 2025, Wild Island also features Tiny Tides, a waterpark adventure for children under 54" tall with attractions specially made for them. Even grown-ups can find some fun by floating down the Lazy River or enjoying a drink at the adults-only Kokomo's Island Bar. Grab a towel and some sunscreen, because Wild Island has hours of entertainment for everyone.

Truckee River Float

For a refreshing way to beat the heat, grab an inner tube and float down the scenic Truckee River. This popular Reno summer activity is perfect for teens and adults looking for a relaxing day on the water. Float Reno can take the hassle out of floating - they provide all the gear you need as well as shuttles. They offer three float times every Saturday and Sunday through the summer.

Carnival Midway

Reno's premier family-friendly destination, Carnival Midway is located downtown inside the Circus Circus Reno. Carnival Midway provides a colorful and lively atmosphere perfect for kids and families looking to have fun during the Reno summer season. With plenty of games for all ages and skill levels, it’s a must-visit spot and a top fun place to go in Reno.

The Discovery

The Discovery is located in downtown Reno and is a great way for the whole family to play and have fun, while learning something new along the way. Kids can learn about everything from human anatomy, to nature, art and science. Older children will love to explore the Cloud Climber, while smaller learners can expand their growing minds in the interactive Little Discoveries room. The Discovery Museum is the perfect stop to engage, learn and stay entertained.

Fun Quest

Located inside the Grand Sierra Resort, Fun Quest is 40,000 square feet of arcade games and attractions like laser tag and bumper cars. Choose from more than 125 games, or pair your Fun Quest adventure with the Bowling Center or Grand Adventure Land. All recreation areas will be properly sanitized before, during and after hours of operation. Social distancing guidelines will be in effect on the arcade floor and in the bowling alley, and face masks are now required in all public spaces.

Food Truck Events

Head to Food Truck WTF on any Wednesday, Thursday or Friday evening, a seasonal event that brings together a variety of local food trucks offering everything from savory bites to sweet treats. This lively gathering is a great way for families to enjoy delicious food in a fun, casual setting during Reno summer evenings. With live music and a friendly atmosphere, it’s one of the best fun places to go in Reno with the whole family. Wednesdays are also a great day to check out Feed the Camel at McKinley Arts Center. Pack a blanket and enjoy the summer evening with tasty food and the sound of the river in the background.

Reno Aces Baseball Game

Experience the thrill of minor league baseball with the Reno Aces, Reno’s hometown team. Great for families looking for an active and exciting Reno summer outing, the stadium offers kid-friendly activities, tasty ballpark snacks and a lively atmosphere. Cheer on the Aces under the summer sun and make memories that everyone will enjoy.

Animal Ark

Located north of Reno, Animal Ark is a sanctuary for animals of all kinds. The whole family will enjoy seeing and learning about foxes, wolves, birds of prey, big cats, bears and even a desert tortoise! Make sure to get there early to watch bear feeding. Throughout the year, they hold fun and educational special events, like Tiger Talks and the Cheetah Dash.
