Reno Riverwalk District
Named one of "America's Top 10 Coolest Riverwalks," you're sure to see gorgeous fall colors along the Truckee River while being within arms reach of great shopping, inviting coffee shops and fine dining.
With more than 300 days of sunshine and moderate temperatures in Reno, fall is the perfect time to take advantage of the patio seating many spaces along the Riverwalk District offer.
Savor brunch at Wild River Grille as golden leaves drift along the Truckee. Meet friends for craft beers and yard games at The Eddy, or take in sweeping river views from The Shore Room patio. Each spot offers the perfect mix of good food, great company, and Reno’s vibrant fall foliage.

Rancho San Rafael Regional Park
Explore one of the tree-lined, paved paths in this oasis located just north of downtown Reno. Stroll through Rancho San Rafael Regional Park, 13 acres of native and adaptive plants and trees in the Wilbur D. May Arboretum & Botanical Garden. This is a great way to take in the bright fall colors. (Plus, you'll likely run into some fun critters like rabbits and squirrels!)
Mayberry Park
Located along the Truckee River just west of downtown Reno, Mayberry Park offers paved trails perfect for strollers and young children. After a nature walk, enjoy a picnic at one of the tables surrounded by the vivid changing leaves. When you look up at the trees and their falling leaves, keep an eye out for the many species of birds that call this park home, including Red-tailed Hawks.

Callahan Park
Callahan Park is a beautiful 25-acre park just off Mt. Rose Highway on the south end of Reno. Indulge yourself in the fall colors of Reno while using a BBQ at a picnic site, playing on the horseshoe pits, or letting the kiddos explore the playgrounds. Take in the beautiful fall foliage along with sagebrush and pine trees, and hike the trails near the world-famous Montreux Golf and Country Club.
Lake Tahoe
Nothing beats experiencing fall in Lake Tahoe. Get a different perspective when you take in the fall colors from the beautiful water! The blue water of Lake Tahoe pops magnificently against the fall colors of the Aspen and Cottonwood trees. Get a stunning view of the lake from a kayak or paddleboard… when the water is calm and (believe it or not) warmer than in July!
Tahoe Rim Trail
Enjoy stunning views on one of the best hiking and biking trails in the country, Tahoe Rim Trail. Head to where the professional photographers go and snap photos of creeks, fir, pine and Aspen trees, not to mention panoramic views of the stunning Lake Tahoe.
Before embarking on your fall foliage adventure, make sure you understand and follow the rules of the trail, including being aware of trail closures. If you're searching for more picturesque places, check out more fall inspiration from the #RenoTahoe Instagram feed.
