Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off
August 28 – September 2 | Victorian Square in Sparks

During Labor Day weekend in downtown Sparks, barbeque stained T-shirts are worn like a badge of honor and using your fingers as dining utensils is completely acceptable. As the most prestigious rib competition in the country, the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off features 24 top cooks from around the world going grill-to-grill in pursuit of the first place trophy. In addition to the fall-off-the-bone fun, you’ll also enjoy free music, crafts, a rib eating contest and much more!

August 27 | Harvey’s Lake Tahoe

Join indie-pop group FUN. as they take over the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena to perform their hits, including “Some Nights,” “We are Young,” and “Carry On.” Kicking-off the show is Canadian rock duo, and identical twin sisters, Tegan and Sara.

Jump back in time to the 1800’s for a first-hand look at the American Civil War with a free authentic encampment and exciting reenactments, complete with trains, cannons and soldiers!
