Reno is Artown – Your Guide to Artown 2022

Reno is so many things – a snowy winter wonderland and a relaxing summer getaway. A host to the Reno Rodeo, Hot August Nights, Street Vibrations, and many other uniquely Reno events. In July, Reno transforms into a full-fledged celebration of arts and culture, because among many things, Reno is Artown. This year, Artown’s headliner events will be taking place at Bartley Ranch Regional Park, with a variety of additional events happening at venues around Reno and Sparks. Here is just a sample of the many events happening throughout the month. We invite you to check out Artown’s complete calendar and experience all the event has to offer.

Celebrate all things art this July with this guide to Artown

Opening Night Concert

Artown kicks off on Friday, July 1 at Wingfield Park with a performance by The Evolution of Cliff Porter. A longtime local professional drummer, vocalist and bandleader, Cliff Porter is dedicated to creating a great time and atmosphere at each and every show. You won’t want to miss the spirit and energy they bring to the stage for Artown’s opening night.

Fourth of July with the Reno Phil

Adding to the many offerings for Fourth of July festivities in Reno is the Reno Phil’s American Salute performance at Wingfield Park and the Reno Jazz Orchestra’s Patriotic Salute performance at Bartley Ranch Regional Park on Monday, July 4. At 7:30 p.m., the Reno Philharmonic will perform some patriotic tunes before fireworks light up the sky at dusk. The Reno Jazz Orchestra will light up the night’s salute with patriotic favorites starting at 7:30 p.m. Both performances are free, family-friendly events!

Monday Night Music Series

There is no shortage of music to experience during Artown and a favorite event each year is the Monday Night Music Series. This year’s free Monday night series will include Reno Jazz Orchestra, Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, Monsieur Periné and Judith Hill.

Movies in the Park

Grab your beach chair and pack a picnic for Movies in the Park, each Friday night in July at Wingfield Park, starting at 9 p.m. This year’s series includes favorites such as The Nightmare Before Christmas, ELF, and A Christmas Story. The final night will be Summer Shorts with a showing of award-winning short films. This is a free event with food and beverages available for purchase.

Workshops

For those looking for hands-on learning, the art-filled month has so much to offer. You can find workshops to try your hand at creating mosaics, painting or making a stained glass masterpiece.

Closing Night Celebration

Reggae artist Mike Love and band Tim Snider & Wolfgang Timber will give this year’s Artown event a closing night you won’t soon forget. Mike Love developed a unique style and sound rooted in reggae and Rastafari while fusing progressive and classic rock, soul, blues and more. The individual style of folk-fusion and conscience rock of Tim Snider & Wolfgang Timber will leave you dancing with a new sense of purpose. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. at Wingfield Park.
