The 11th annual Reno Ukulele Festival Acoustic Faire with Swing Thing celebrates the growing popularity of the diminutive instrument. The ukulele is a diverse family of acoustic and electric instruments and is being played in many different styles. Because of this, the line-up is infused with multi-instrumentalists. Enjoy outstanding workshops, concerts, open-mic performances, organized jams, vendor marketplace and special daytime entertainment. You can even go home with a professionally recorded song! An experienced sound engineer will be on site to operate a live recording studio, limited to five slots.
There is an impressive lineup, including Grammy award winners Cathy Fink, Marcy Marxer and Daniel Ho; heralded instrumentalist Gerald Ross; composer, songwriter, and performer John Batdorf; Casey MacGill; Muriel Anderson and Dani Joy.
On Friday evening, The Swing Thing” will be a combination Swing dance/concert to get the blood circulating on the dance floor or just kicking back and enjoying a mid-century music blast from the past!
