Presented by Artown, the performance is an intriguing narration of the rags-to-riches story of Parisian singer Edith Piaf’s career. Hear her unforgettable songs, complemented by a visual tapestry of previously unreleased photographs and images of famous locations of the Edith Piaf era. Conceived and directed by the Nice-based theatrical maverick Gil Marsalla and starring Anne Carrere, a young French performer hailed as “Edith Piaf’s legitimate musical heiress.”

Edith Piaf rose to fame in the late 40’s and 50’s, specializing in chanson (classic, lyric-driven French songs) and torch ballads of love, loss and sorrow. Her well-known songs include “La Vie en rose”, ”Non je ne regretted rien”, “Hymne a l’amour”, “Milord”, La Foule” and “L’Accordeoniste”.  Piaf has acquired a legacy as one of the greatest performers of the 20th century and her voice and music continue to be celebrated globally.
