From creative fusion restaurants to globally inspired lunch spots, Reno Tahoe has given foodies new reasons to rejoice with the expansion of our dining scene in 2017. It’s impossible to fully experience our great city without taking in its culinary delights – longstanding favorites and new additions. The city experienced a surge of openings worth trying this new year!
Midtown welcomed sushi burritos and poke bowls from Finbomb, a fun way to eat Japan’s most treasured cuisine; across the street, Basik Acai Café made its way from the Islands to serve patrons acai bowls and smoothies. Finally, Korean cuisine arrived in Midtown at Arario, situated just above Noble Pie and Piñon Bottle Company.
Meanwhile, downtown flourished with openings across its hotel properties and other brick and mortar establishments. Eldorado Resorts Reno opened a slew of new restaurants across Circus Circus and Silver Legacy, including El Jefe’s Cantina, Kanpai Sushi, Canter’s Deli , The Habit Burger Grill, and Madame Butterwork’s Curious Cafe.
Overlooking the Truckee River, the new Renaissance Hotel included the opening of The Shore Room with a full bar and a Mediterranean-inspired menu serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their happy hour is also a hot commodity, featuring bar bites such as crispy calamari or jumbo fried chicken wings.
From South Korea, Bab Café opened its first U.S. location offering bibim-bab bowls. Just down the street, West Street Market welcomed The Deluxe, a fully organic and plant-based scratch kitchen; Maya’s South Indian Cuisine, serving vegetarian, vegan and organic lunches; Sol, a kava bar with a full menu of consciously sourced, plant-based drinks; and Icecycle Creamery, where visitors can enjoy artisan ice cream.
Washoe Public House opened on Hill St., under the direction of Chef Brett Moseley who prepares local handcrafted dining. Traditional and fusion-style Vietnamese food made its debut at Creazian, while patrons were introduced to a family-friendly dining option in Redwood Rotisserie and Grill, which boasts a menu anchored by rotisserie chicken and tri-tip dishes.
