Your Dog’s Favorite Vacation, Ever

Your dog’s best vacation might be yours.

It’s simple – pets and people are better together. In addition to the endless outdoor opportunities to partake in as the ultimate dynamic duo (human + dog), there are a surprising number of bars, hotels, shops, restaurants and parks around the city that actively encourage patrons to bring their furry friends.. We’ve made a list of a few favorites that Loki the Wolfdog and Marley sniffed out while they were exploring the area…

LAY DOWN

Many hotels in Reno Tahoe are dog-friendly. Whitney Peak Hotel gives pets a welcome bag full of treats, accessories, and necessities for a comfortable stay with your pet.

WALK?

Grab a cup of coffee at Hub Coffee Roasters then take a stroll along the Truckee River into downtown Reno with your pup. Take in beautiful public artworks along the way at The Sculpture Garden in Bicentennial and Reno Playa park.

 SIT

Bring your furry best friend to the dog-friendly artisan marketplace, The Basement. Located underneath the historic Post Office building in downtown Reno, browse the shops that include healthful bites at Chomp, flavor-packed juices at RAWBRY, shopping, cocktail bar and more!

TREAT!

Tahoe Meadows sits at the top of Mt. Rose Hwy, just a short drive from Reno on the way to Lake Tahoe. The long, smooth slopes are great recreational terrain for everything from back-country skiing/riding, sledding and snowshoeing. Don’t forget to take advantage of the many hiking trails during the summer months, as you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe.

DROP-IT

Sand Harbor in Incline Village is dog-friendly in the winter months between October 15-April 15. This picturesque beach is perfect for long, scenic walks and the famously clear water is perfect for playing with your pooch.

Come! Weekday dog-friendly activities:

On Mondays, take your dog to Wild River Grille in downtown Reno, sit on the patio, and a portion of your dinner will be donated to the Nevada Humane Society.

On Wednesdays, you can bring your dog to Greater Nevada Field in downtown Reno to watch the Reno Aces.

Fetch your canine and camera… it’s time to start planning your next trip.
