If you have yet to try out a winter here in Reno Tahoe, you are seriously missing out! The powdered snow blanketing our mountains and endless activities of fun like ice skating and skiing make for Reno Tahoe to be a wonderful winter family destination. Here is a list of fun winter activities for you and the whole family to enjoy.

Enjoy Winterfest at Greater Nevada Field

WinterFest is a festive holiday attraction featuring a Christmas train ride and appearances from Santa Claus in “Santa’s Village” – will officially open December 1 at Greater Nevada Field. Adults and children can ride the Holiday Express Train, a custom narrated journey around the inside of Greater Nevada Field, taking you from Reno to the North Pole to deliver Santa’s naughty and nice list. The Christmas train and Santa appearances run from 5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays with Sundays going from 4:00 pm. to 7:00 p.m.. The train ride prices are a flat rate of $10 for children and adults and $32 for a family four-pack. Pictures with Santa are available for purchase with packages starting at just $15.

Adventure in the Snow

Reno Tahoe boasts the largest concentration of ski slopes in North America. That ultimately leads to more hills, which means more sledding fun! Tahoe Meadows Snow Play Area is a great spot for sledding, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. If you’re looking for even more snow activities, check out Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows for their SnoVentures Activity Zone that consists of areas for tubing, sledding and beginner skiers and snowboarders. Afterwards, hang out by the fire pits and enjoy some tasty s’mores with the whole family. Check out more snow play options here.
