“Snow” Much Fun for the Entire Family in Reno Tahoe

If you have yet to experience winter here in Reno Tahoe, you are seriously missing out! The powdery snow blanketing our mountains and endless activities like ice skating and skiing means Reno Tahoe is a perfect winter destination for the whole family. Here are some of the favorite winter activities for you and the whole family to enjoy.

Enjoy Winterfest at Greater Nevada Field

WinterFest is a festive holiday attraction featuring a Christmas train ride and appearances from Santa Claus in “Santa’s Village” – will officially open December 1 at Greater Nevada Field. Adults and children can ride the Holiday Express Train, a custom narrated journey around the inside of Greater Nevada Field, taking you from Reno to the North Pole to deliver Santa’s naughty and nice list. The Christmas train and Santa appearances run from 5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays with Sundays going from 4:00 pm. to 7:00 p.m.. The train ride prices are a flat rate of $10 for children and adults and $32 for a family four-pack. Pictures with Santa are available for purchase with packages starting at just $15.

Experience Winter Wonderland at 39 North Pole Village

Downtown Sparks will become a sparkling winter wonderland as 39 North Downtown hosts the 3rd Annual 39 North Pole Village. This holiday light festival will feature thousands of twinkling lights, holiday shopping booths, great food, family fun and holiday cheer. The event is Thursday and Friday from 4-9 p.m. and Saturday from noon-9 p.m. 39 North Pole Village this year will have double the vendors, triple the amount of family activities and the plaza will be saturated in holiday light displays and memories. The heated vendor tent will provide you with a great opportunity to shop local this holiday season. Santa will be there for all to take free photos and to listen to Christmas wish lists. Engine 39, the trackless electric train, will be giving out free rides to all! This train is for the whole city to use year-round for events both big and small.

Get Your Skate On at the Ice Rinks

Ice skating is the perfect way to enjoy family time in Reno Tahoe. While exploring downtown Reno, make sure you take a few turns on the ice at The Rink at THE ROW. The village at Northstar California also has an ice rink that is surrounded by fire pits to keep you warm. Heavenly Village has an open-air skating rink where you ice skate and enjoy the ambiance of music and lights day and night.

Disco Down the Slope

When the sun dips behind the mountain, slide down in neon lights. Squaw Valley lights up the slopes change their white snow to a multitude of color with LED lights and lasers. Live DJs keep the energy high and beats bumping down the slope. Limited tickets ensure plenty of room to get down in your own style. Be sure to bundle up and ready to see the snow mountain dripping in color.
