Whittemore Peterson Institute (WPI) will hold “Light Up the Night,” its eighth annual I Hope You Dance fundraising gala, on Friday, September 13, 2013, at the Atlantis Resort and Casino. The country themed event will kick off at 6:00 p.m. with cocktails and a silent auction, followed by fine dining and dancing. The celebration will honor Bob and Jan Davidson of the Davidson Institute for Talent Development and the Davidson Academy with the Lifetime Achievement Award and Pat Fero of the Wisconsin ME/CFS Association as the Outstanding Advocate.
“We are pleased to honor the Davidsons for their generous support of WPI and outstanding commitment to the greater Reno community,” said Annette Whittemore, president and CEO of WPI. “Pat is much deserving of recognition for her tireless advocacy on behalf of all those who suffer from myalgic encephalomyelitis or ME/CFS. Without the help and support of the Davidsons, Pat, and countless others, our vision would not be possible.”
The gala is the main fundraising event for the non-profit institute, which is committed to neuro-immune disease research, treatment, education, and outreach. All of the proceeds from the event will directly benefit WPI and its comprehensive translational medical research program. Lieutenant Governor Brian Krolicki and his wife, Kelly, will join George and Nancy Ghusn as gala chairs.
“WPI’s mission is personal to us because our daughter has ME/CFS, but we are also inspired by the many people who are so desperate for assistance,” said Nancy. “We are eager to help raise funds to support the institute’s promising research to help all those who suffer from this debilitating disease.”
