McKinley Arts and Culture Center will host the 3rd annual Visual Art BLAST on September 6 and 7. The Biggest Little Art Show Today (BLAST) is an outdoor art fair that takes place Saturday and Sunday on the south lawn of McKinley. 19 regional artists have been selected to showcase their artwork in the East and West Galleries of McKinley from August 18 – September 7, culminating with the art fair. Spanning media from gourds to glass, this group of artists highlights a diverse range of talent that is exemplary of the Great Basin.Exhibiting artists: Anthony Arevalo (Sculpture), Dean Burton (Photography and Jewelry), Eric Brooks (Painting), Bryce Chisholm (Painting), Casey Clark (Ceramics), Kristy Dial (Painted Gourds), Carol Gilman (Watercolor), Susan Handau (Encoustic), Richard Jackson (Ceramic), Lisa Kurt (Painting), Barb Kallestad (Watercolor), Michelle Lassaline (Painting), Gilbert Leiker (Pen & Ink), Reenie McMains (Painting), Carola Nan-Roach (Glass and Painting), Trish Reynolds (Photography), Deon Reynolds (Photography), Sande Rowan (Basket Weaving) and Trisha Tribble (Jewerly).
The City of Reno will purchase a piece from the McKinley Art BLAST Gallery show that receives the most votes by the public during the weekend art fair. The Best of Show prize will be awarded by the Art BLAST jury to the artist who has the most professional display and highest quality work. The reception will be Friday, September 5, 5:30-7:30, hosted by Art Spot Reno.
