Metro Gallery in Reno City Hall hosts an exhibition of photographs by renowned Washington artist Lee Musgrave. “Fleeting Moments” is a series of abstraction photographs from natural settings surrounding his home in High Prairie, Washington. Musgrave’s work begins as an attraction to the fragile beauty that nature presents, which he then photographs in-camera, on the spot, and in natural light as a means of preserving short-term evolving natural occurrences. The resulting images reflect upon something vulnerable and essential about humanity’s reliance on nature for sustainability and spiritual renewal.
Lee Musgrave is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship and his work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions. His works are in the City of Portland, Portable Works Collection and the Washington Arts Commission, Art in Public Places Collection, amongst many others.
Musgrave received a Master of Arts from California State University, Los Angeles and studied with Hans Burkhardt and Fritz Faiss. Burkhardt was studio partner of Arshille Gorky and Mark Tobey. Faiss studied at the Bauhaus with Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky.
