The Classic Car Club of America Cross-Country CARavan will pass through Reno on May 21.
In 1913, the Lincoln Highway became America's first coast-to-coast road; many sections actually followed a similar path as the 1860 Pony Express route. Nearly 100 members of the Classic Car Club of America (CCCA) will participate in a CCCA CARavan® “Re-Discover America” that will cross the United States—from New York City to San Francisco—from May 4 to 26.
The three-week tour will pass through Reno on May 21 and overnight at the Siena Hotel Spa Casino. The public is invited to come out and admire the cars which are tentatively scheduled to arrive around 5:00pm. The trip not only commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Lincoln Highway but the 60th anniversary of the Classic Car Club of America, the sponsor of the trip.
Automobiles participating in the tour include Packard, Cadillac, Lincoln, Buick, Auburn and Franklin.
There will be 44 different Classic automobiles from the 1930’s and ‘40s, and two French automobile enthusiasts will be among the CARavanners. The CARavan will travel some of the most scenic routes in America. Participants will see natural wonders, man-made marvels, cultural institutions, historical sites and private automobile collections and stay in 17 different cities, including Reno.
