Leaf Peeping : Fall Colors in Reno Tahoe

The #RenoTahoe Instagram feed has been looking a little yellow/orange/red lately. With fall in full swing, it’s time to grab your camera (or camera phone) and get inspired! We’ve included a few must-visit favorite picturesque places AND a roundup of our favorite and most colorful fall photos in the Reno Tahoe area. Happy leaf peeping!

Callahan Park

This beautiful 25-acre park is just off Mt Rose Highway on the south end of Reno. Enjoy beautiful fall foliage through sagebrush, pine, and hike trails among the links of the world-famous Montreux Golf Course.

Lake Tahoe

The blue water of Lake Tahoe pops magnificently against the fall colors of the aspen and cottonwood trees. Get an awesome view from the lake! The water is calm and (believe it or not) warmer than in July!

Tahoe Rim Trail

Stunning views on one of the best hiking/biking trails in the country. Head to where the professional photographers go and snap photos of creeks, fir, pine, and aspen trees, not to mention panoramic views of Lake Tahoe.

Reno Riverwalk District

Named one of “America’s Top 10 Coolest Riverwalks”, you’ll see gorgeous colors along the Truckee River while being within an arms reach of great shopping and fine dining. With over 300 days of sunshine and moderate temperatures in Reno, you’ll may want to take advantage of the patio seating many places along the Riverwalk District offer.

Rancho San Rafael Regional Park

Explore one of the tree lined trails in this oasis located just outside of downtown Reno. A stroll through the 13 acres of the native and adaptive plants and trees in the Wilbur D. May Arboretum & Botanical Garden is a great way to take in the fall colors.

Mayberry Park

Located along the Truckee River, Mayberry Park offers paved trails perfect for strollers and young children. After a nature walk enjoy a picnic at one of the tables surrounded by the beautiful fall foliage.
