Summer 2014 Bucket List
Ever feel like summer flies by so fast that you aren’t able to get to half the activities you wanted to? With so much going on in the Reno Tahoe area, we can hardly blame you. Make sure summer doesn’t slip away from you this year by creating a bucket list with exciting events and new activities to make the most out of your summer! Here are some must-do’s to add to your list:
1. Explore Tahoe
Not only does North Lake Tahoe offer relaxing beaches with incredible mountain views, it also has some of the clearest blue water that you truly have to see to believe. Go explore more than the beach by trying out a fun water activity like paddle boarding. Or, take on new heights by parasailing over the lake, an unforgettable experience that offers a panoramic view of the lake.
Kayak, boat, Jet Ski, sail, row… so much to do, so little time!
2. Attend a summer Festival
Who doesn’t love live music, cool brews and good eats? Don’t miss out on the opportunity to enjoy all of that and more! There is no shortage of exciting festivals in Reno Tahoe during the summertime. Kick off summer by spending the first day of summer at Eldorado’s BBQ, Brews and Blues Festival. And, don’t miss out on The North Tahoe Beer and Bluegrass Festival. Check out all of the exciting festivals!
3. Tell your friend to “Take a hike…”
… with you on one of the wonderful trails Reno Tahoe has to offer! Whether it’s the mountains of Tahoe or the hills of Reno, soak up the rays while staying active and exploring new areas. If you’re more experienced, pack a lunch and give Mt. Rose a go, traversing 10 miles while enjoying breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe. More of a beginner? Not a problem. Start with the Cross Peak trail- an hour long hike that reveals expansive views of Reno and Sparks. Don’t forget to sign the guest book at the top of the summit to prove you made it!
No matter what trail you decide to take, remember to enjoy the journey- don’t forget to stop and smell the pine trees every once and awhile!
4. Laugh all the way to the River Bank
Located at the heart of Reno’s downtown, surrounded by local eateries and shops, enjoy the Truckee River and all it has to offer is a must-add to your bucket list. Escape the heat and take a dip in the river at Wingfield Park– a free water park. Feeling more adventurous? Reserve a professional guide and whitewater raft down the river, a fun and exciting journey beginning in Truckee and ending in downtown Reno.
