Reno Tahoe is the place for the cycling enthusiast! Road cycling lovers will enjoy the bike lanes throughout Northern Nevada. The picturesque landscape and open cliff faces reminds one of the Pacific Coast Highway. If you're looking to get onto the beaten path, there are several mountain biking paths. A variety of single track trails and dirt roads start high around the Reno-Tahoe area providing an opportunity for a perfect all, or mostly downhill ride. You can also choose a full day loop that includes up and downhill or a leisurely tour along the Truckee River bike path. Six companies offer guided tour with equipment rentals.
The Reno Tahoe area has some of the best rock climbing in the country. World class areas like Lover's Leap are within 15 miles of South Lake Tahoe; Donner Summit and Big Chief are located less than an hour from Reno. The Reno Tahoe area is a destination for climbers from around the world.
Water Adventures 1 hr – full day
When it comes to wet and wild activities, Reno Tahoe is making a splash. The Truckee River winds its way through downtown Reno and Sparks, plus a variety of lakes are located in the area, including beautiful Lake Tahoe. Choose from leisurely floats, white water rafting, stand up paddle boarding, water skiing, flat water canoeing, jet skiing, water skiing or sailing. Group and individual tours and lessons are available.
Lake Cruises 2 -3 1/2 hrs
It's hard to find a more panoramic view of Lake Tahoe than the one you can get from the decks of a paddle wheel boat . Two companies provide cruises from 2 hours to 3 1/2 hours and include activities such as brunch, lunch or dinner with live music. Group options available.
Hiking 1 hr – full day
The beauty of Northern Nevada was meant to be seen and explored. Whether at the Sparks Marina, along the Truckee River in downtown Reno, or among the pines on the eastern slopes of the Sierra, this is a region where the air is healthy, the scenery spectacular. Guided tours available.
You'll never play a better game of golf than when you're in Reno Tahoe. It's science. At our altitude, golf balls automatically fly 10 percent farther. Over 50 courses are within 90 minutes of Reno allowing a course for every level. Reno is also home to the only PGA summertime west coast event.
Reno Tahoe USA gets an average of 40 feet of snow per year. With all that snow comes countless winter activities. We have 18 different resorts for all levels of skiers and boarders. Or maybe you would rather explore our beautiful terrain on a snowmobile or cross-country skis. We even have sleigh rides to take you through our picturesque winter landscapes. Snowshoeing or inner-tubing are always a possibility, or you can step out like an explorer with a team of dogs and your dog sled. If you feel like ice-skating, choose from five ice rinks.
