Nevada Day is the largest statehood celebration in the nation, commemorating Nevada's admission to statehood in 1864. It is comprised of dozens of events taking place during the final week of October – the highlight being the Nevada Day Parade, held on the last Saturday in October. Parade morning kicks-off with an 8:00am hot air balloon launch (weather permitting); a 10:00am flyover of military aircraft signals the official start to the parade. Thousands gather to watch as marching bands, creative floats, equestrian entries, and a variety of entertainment, meander their way down Carson Street.
