Bizet’s final masterpiece set in 1830’s Seville, Spain, Carmen is a tragic tale of obsessive passion and jealousy. Loved by the unpredictable gypsy heroine, a young officer must choose between following his military career or following Carmen. When Carmen tosses him aside he lashes out with deadly results. From the famous “Overture” to the “Toreador Song”, this opera is packed with beautiful and familiar melodies. Cast includes Soprano Kirsten Gunlogson in her debut role with the Nevada Opera as “Carmen”, Tenor John Pickle as “Don Jose, Baritone Dennis Jesse as “Escamillo” and Soprano Suzanne Woods as “Micaëla”.
