Downtown Reno September 10, 2010 - September 12, 2010
10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Reno Open Studio artists welcome you to one of the largest cultural happenings of Reno for 2010. The self guided driving tour to each artist’s studio coincides with the Reno Balloon Races held on September 10th, 11th, and 12th, 2010. Many of the artists featured have shown their work nationally, some are local folks whose talents were discovered right here and each unique in their own art form. All will share their backgrounds, inspirations, challenges and techniques. And, it’s absolutely free! Give yourself the time to review the map and then map your trip to determine which studios you wish to visit.
In 2009, with the determination of Melinda Plumbridge and Jann Selleck, the Reno Open Studio Tour kicked off its first event with 21 local artists. The first tour was so well received that it was decided to make it an annual event. This year’s tour features 39 talented artists in locations all over the Reno area. The tour includes oils, acrylics, watercolor, gourd art, jewelry, textile art, bronze, photography, woodturning, metal sculpture, glass and glass blowing, clay, printmaking, ceramics, and even a forensic artist!
The Reno Open Studio Tour provides a unique way to learn about our culture. In order to understand others, and ourselves, we need only to look closely at the art and spirit that dwells within it. Mark your calendars for this late summer event. What better way to kick off the cool autumn air than to experience a look into the lives and works of the diverse and talented artists of Reno.
