Lake Tahoe, Carson City, Reno & Sparks August 25, 2012
Expedition Man would like to introduce the inaugural Endurance Festival featuring Northern Nevada's 1st Ultra Distance Triathlon.It will feature an UTLRA, LONG, RELAY and Aqua Bike triathlon simultaneously. The USA Triathlon sanctioned event will traverse the communities of Lake Tahoe, Carson City, Washoe Valley, Reno and Sparks and highlight the breathtaking and iconic Northern Nevada scenery.
Each leg offers the Ultra Distance or an optional Long distance. The unique course starts swimmers at Zephyr Cove Resort in the beautiful southern part of South Lake Tahoe, NV (2.4 miles or 1.2 miles). The 112 mile bike ride will utilize a variety of Northern Nevada's scenery including a 1,400 ft elevation drop into Carson City (56 mile option). The bike portion of the route includes a three mile climb to Spooner Lake (7,100ft elevation), followed by a thrilling downhill ride that includes a 1,400ft elevation drop into Carson. The course then goes through the pristine calmness of Washoe Valley and continues into Reno, ending at the Legends at Sparks Marina. The day ends with a long run along the Truckee River Trail finishing at the Legends at Sparks Marina (26.2 miles or 13.1 miles).
You don't have to be a competitor to enjoy this event. Spectators are encouraged to cheer on the athletics throughout the 140.6 mile course. Go to http://www.expeditionman.com/course/ for details about the swim, bike and runs courses.
Festival Area (Located at Scheels)
DJ Ryon, 93.7 BOB-FM and some of your favorite local bands will keep the music flowing at this year's Festival located at the Legends at Sparks Marina in front of Scheels.The Festival will have a vendor area with plenty of food and drinks and a great viewing area for spectators looking for their favorite athlete coming in and out of the transition areas or crossing the finish line.
