Chinese New Year
Eldorado Hotel Casino February 10, 2013 - February 18, 2013
The Eldorado Hotel Casino is busy preparing to make dozens of authentic Chinese specialty dishes to help ring in the Chinese New Year. Look for traditional Chinese specialties in The Buffet from February 10-17 and the magnificent White Crane Lion Dances February 16-18 in honor of the Year of the Snake.
According to the Chinese lunar calendar, the new year begins on February 10 and marks the transition from the Year of the Dragon to the Year of the Snake. While the Year of the Dragon was marked by excitement, unpredictability, exhilaration and intensity, many expect the year of the Snake to be marked by prosperity, gracious morality and great wisdom.
To usher in the Year of the Snake, The Buffet will serve dozens of ever changing appetizers, side dishes and entrees plus Chinese crispy roast pig every night. Just some of the dishes planned include Chinese Five Spice head-on shrimp with chili sauce, steamed mussels with black bean sauce, roast duck, cashew chicken, wok braised crab with ginger sauce, Peking pork chop, Mongolian beef and more.
Each buffet guest will receive Lei See, a Chinese tradition of lucky money. Sunday, February 10 through Thursday, February 14 adults dine for only $17.99 while kids under 10 eat for just $8.99. Eldorado Gold Club members and above can savor this delicious spread for just $12.99. Friday, February 15 through Sunday, February 17 guests can enjoy the Chinese New Year buffet for $24.99 per adult and $12.99 per child 10 and under. Eldorado Gold Card members and above dine for only $19.99.
The Chinese Lion Dance has been an integral element of Chinese culture for over a thousand years and a beloved part of the New Year festivities. February 16-18, the White Crane Lion Dancers will begin on the mezzanine and wind their way through the casino for all to see. Saturday performances will begin at 5, 8 and 11 p.m. Sunday dances will be seen at 4, 7 and 10 p.m. with Monday dances at 1 p.m.
