Arts and Culture

Reno Tahoe is a culturally vibrant region and a true arts destination – a place for year-round art. Reno Tahoe’s energy and natural landscape attract audacious artists and traditional masters, who showcase their work in museums, galleries, art schools and workspaces throughout the area. Learn more about Reno and Lake Tahoe art and culture below.

Several of Northern Nevada’s events encourage artist exploration. Each summer experience the not-to-be-missed Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival in an outdoor amphitheater at Sand Harbor State Park and Artown, July’s month-long celebration of over 500 events taking place throughout the area including music, dance, theater, film and visual arts.

Take a leisurely stroll down the Truckee River in downtown and stop by several different museums in the area. The Nevada Museum of Art has permanent collections as well as rotates traveling exhibitions from across the globe, and artwork by emerging artists. The Discovery provides plenty of hands-on experience in STEAM learning. And, the National Automobile Museum, considered “one of America’s Five Greatest Auto Museums,” showcases more than 200 eye-popping cars and authentic street scenes.

The city is filled with public art in the form of sculptures and larger-than-life murals gracing the walls of many buildings. With more than 100 murals in MidTown alone, there are hidden gems around every corner, waiting to be discovered. Explore new art from the comfort of a pedicab with Pineapple Pedicabs. You can pick between a MidTown Mural Tour or a Burning Man Art and Mural Tour for a one-of-a-kind Reno experience.
