    About 10 miles to the southwest of Reno is another beautiful spot in the desert at the foot of the Sierras. Only an hour from the pluvial landscape of Pyramid Lake the scenery changes drastically to the forested, mountainous terrain of Galena Creek Park. In the winter, Galena Creek is a great place for your snow adventures.

    Enjoy the large open flats and scattered peaks of the Tahoe Meadows and surrounding areas. Located at the top of Mt. Rose Highway (Hwy. 431), you will find a large undeveloped area great for snowshoeing, cross-country and backcountry skiing, and sledding. Area shops rent all but backcountry skis.
