VIBRANT NEW MARQUEE AT RENO-SPARKS LIVESTOCK EVENTS CENTER

2013-06-28

The Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center now features a new marquee thanks to a partnership between the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority, the City of Reno and the Reno Rodeo.

Installed prior to the 2013 Reno Rodeo, the new marquee is an update to the RSLEC sign located on the west side of the property along Wells Avenue. The original marquee, previously used at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center and moved to the RSLEC in 2002, was only capable of displaying black and white text. The new LED screens span more than 17-feet across and are more than 6 ½-feet tall, exhibiting full color graphics and video, enhancing the ability to effectively promote current and upcoming events.

The new display, provided by YESCO, comes at a discounted price of roughly $100,000 and is funded through a partnership between the RSCVA, City of Reno and Reno Rodeo, each contributing a third of the cost. The City of Reno’s investment was allocated via the downtown hotel improvement fund, while Reno Rodeo’s portion is being provided to YESCO through a three-year sponsorship.

The Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority has made continuous improvements to the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center since taking over ownership in 1985. The new marquee is the first completed project from a list of enhancements slated for this year. Future plans include a new and improved sound system, as well as a renovation and remodeling of the women’s restroom facilities.
